Cool, I wouldn't have thought that those boxes need acls, or ext2 ;)

Check CONFIG_FS_POSIX_ACL and CONFIG_FS_MBCACHE in the kernel .config file. If 
CONFIG_FS_MBCACHE is m, you'll also need that module.
